The availability of powerful microprocessors and high-speed networks as commodity components are making clusters of computers an appealing vehicle for parallel computing (high-performance and also high-availability computing). Cluster/network of workstations built using commodity hardware or software is playing a major role in redefining the concept of Supercomputing.
There are many independent efforts in progress in the industry and research labs for developing supercomputers based on the cluster concept. Currently, there are no books available which can act as a reference for researchers (in the industry and academy) and students at the post graduate level.
Our book on "Cluster Computing" (focused mainly on high performance), published in two volmes, is expected to fill this gap:
Vol. 1 -- High Performance Cluster Computing: Architectures and Systems, Rajkumar Buyya (editor), ISBN 0-13-013784-7, Prentice Hall PTR, NJ, USA, 1999.
Vol. 2 -- High
Performance Cluster Computing: Programming and Applications, Rajkumar Buyya
(editor), ISBN 0-13-013785-5, Prentice Hall PTR,
NJ, USA, 1999.
If you know any site providing cluster computing resources (like free software)
for which I can give a link, please let me know. Also feel free to contact me
for any other information concerning the book:
